History:
Born the child of a Human soldier and an Elven healer, Aribeth led what might be considered a normal life for the most part, dealing with the natural prejudices of the elves she encountered and the admiration of the humans with whom she lived. At a young age she was taken up with the cause of justice, her father having been deployed to far off lands by an order of his liege, leaving her in the care of the village priest who happened to be a devotee of Tyr.
By the firelight he told her the stories of Tyr's just judgements and compassion, of the way he assisted those in need and struck down evil. As days passed she dreamt of serving the world in such a capacity, and as months passed she swore her loyalty to the maimed God. It was in her sixteenth year she was taken as a priestess, and it was in her seventeenth year- one year after her father had departed- that she received news of his death, which changed her life profoundly.
Soldiers often died in battle. This was a fact that she, as a warrior's daughter, had long since been aware of. Had he perished in a war against mundane foes she might have accepted this loss and gone about her life, but with the news of his death came the tale of the army coming under attack by a legion of undead- those they had struck down once come back to fell them.
The necromancer responsible had been named, and though it was far beyond her power to even dream of challenging him, she prayed desperately to her Lord, Tyr, that she might be given the strength to bring him to his reckoning. It was then that she forsook the path of peace and took up her service in a more forward fashion- she had become a paladin.
With the word of Tyr in her heart and a sword in her hand she went boldly forward into the outer reaches of the kingdom, serving as avenger to the weak as she tracked groups of bandits, picking them off by way of sword and bow when the time arose. As her confidence grew so did her strength, and it was in this time that she decided she would return to the temple where she'd spent a year and would renew her vow and plea.
It was late when she crested the hill overlooking her hometown on horseback, but her senses told her that something was amiss. The stench of death hung in the air, and an ill wind brought the faint tinge of smoke to her nostrils. What she saw brought rage into her once peaceful soul- her home had been destroyed.
Like a zephyr she descended, finding no corpses but instead the taint of necromantic magic, which brought from her memory the tale of the necromancer that had killed her father. Had he come to finish off her people?! 'To the temple!' cried her spirit, and she ran to find it in ruins, the pillars that had represented her faith knocked aside, the stone walls collapsed to reveal an inspiring sight- a sword that gleamed unnaturally in the moonlight. This sword, she decided, represented Tyr's decision. She would use it to strike down her prey in the name of Justice- and so she took it with her as she began to follow the necromancer's path.
Her journey took her to the end of her home realm, for every time she drew close she found herself under assault by vile creatures of all descriptions. Each time she fought, and each time she was victorious, but every drop of blood she spilled from his minions was nothing in comparison to what he'd spilled from her ilk. He'd abandoned their realm and sought other, more distant lands, and so Aribeth followed- collecting artifacts as she went.
Over time her abilities developed even more, and though the years passed she aged very little; a product of her elfen lineage. Now arriving in the world of Tallendon she seeks the man who had caused her so much pain, intent on ending his path of destruction...
